About Claire Blue Skies

Born on the east coast and moved to the Midwest as a young kid, I've finally put down roots in my hometown. I went away to college and as soon as I graduated I joined the Peace Corps in West Africa. After finishing Peace Corps I returned home for a few months and took a job in Texas. My job in Texas led to a Master's degree. Somehow after finishing my masters I ended up back in my hometown and landed a full time salaried job here. Even more amazing I met my husband Tim the fall of the year I moved back and the rest is history. One of the things that brought Tim and I together is our love of outdoors and of good food. Our second date Tim made me an amazing dinner and then we went owling (looking for owls). We saw and heard a little screech owl. So owls have special meaning. We both have great jobs (they may not be our dream jobs but they are stable and not bad). We were married to us. in June of 2007 at the local courthouse and had a larger ceremony in April of 2008. That spring my husband started his current job and later on that winter we bought our first house. Built in 1927 it's a cozy bungalow with wood floors, open floor plan, and a finished basement. We've put a lot of work into the house over the past couple of years, completely renovating the finished part of the basement. It's got a great little yard and we have enough sunlight in our front yard for a small vegetable garden.
After we were married in 2008 I had a major surgery on my foot which took nearly a year and half to feel fully recovered from. The thought of starting a family was on hold during that time as the last thing my body could do was to carry a baby. During the winter of 2010 I started a new job in a DNA sequencing lab and Tim and I decided that we really wanted to start a family. We held of for a little while longer so that I'd be at my new job a full year before we got pregnant.
Fast forward to January of 2011.  I found out I was pregnant with Claire, due in October of 2011. This blog is a way of documenting her life and for me to document life as a mom.
